1199SEIU Endorses Briget Rein for City Council
Brooklyn, New York: Today, Briget Rein, candidate for New York City Council District 39, received the endorsement of 1199SEIU - the largest union in New York and the largest healthcare worker union in the nation.
“I am honored and humbled to have received the endorsement of 1199SEIU. Last year, in my mother’s final days, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was the health care workers at her nursing home there that made sure she passed away in comfort and with dignity. I truly will never be able to repay them for how they helped my family but I will do my best by speaking up for them when I am in the City Council” said Briget Rein.
“Briget is exactly the type of person we need in the City Council,” said 1199SEIU Political Director Gabby Seay. “From her years of working alongside 1199 as a partner in the labor movement, she knows firsthand the issues we care about: good jobs with good wages and benefits, quality healthcare, a clean environment, and a city that works for every working family. At a time when organized labor is under attack, Briget will be our champion in City Hall.”
1199SEIU represents over 200,000 nurses and other healthcare workers in New York City, more than 300,000 members in New York State, and over 400,000 workers along the East Coast.
