Briget Rein Applauds Gowanus Rezoning Pause Order
Brooklyn, New York: Today, City Council candidate Briget Rein praised Kings County Supreme Court Justice Katherine Levine’s order to pause the ULURP review of the proposed Gowanus rezoning, arguing that there must be an in-person public hearing since many stakeholders do not have sufficient technological access.
“I could not have asked for a better ruling from Justice Levine,” said Briget Rein. “From the get-go, I have called for a pause of the Gowanus rezoning process because Zoom is not an adequate alternative to in-person discussions and now a court order substantiates that belief. If I didn’t know better, I’d say Justice Levine read my op-ed in Bklyner.”
The announcement about the court order broke via an emailed statement from the Voice of Gowanus that was also shared on the group’s Twitter account.
